Don't Cry Joni lyrics

[00:10.60] Joni was the girl who lived next door

[00:15.34] I've known her I guess 10 years or more

[00:20.08] Joni wrote me a note one day

[00:25.32] And this is what she had to say

[00:33.07] Jimmy please say you'll wait for me

[00:38.58] I'll grow up someday you'll see

[00:42.82] Saving all my kisses just for you

[00:48.10] Signed with love

[00:49.82] forever true

[00:56.08] Slowly I read her note once more

[01:01.08] Then I went over to the house next door

[01:05.08] Her tear drops fell like rain that day

[01:10.33] When I told Joni what I had to say

[01:18.82] Joni, Joni please don't cry

[01:23.84] You'll forget me by and by

[01:28.08] You're just fifteen

[01:30.33] I'm twenty two

[01:32.85] And Joni I just cant wait for you

[01:41.32] Soon I left our little home town

[01:46.57] Got me a job and tried to settle down

[01:50.58] But these words kept haunting my memory

[01:56.83] The words that Joni said to me

[02:04.86] Jimmy please say you'll wait for me

[02:09.32] I'll grow up some day you'll see

[02:13.60] Saving all my kisses just for you

[02:18.83] Signed with love

[02:20.86] forever true

[02:26.84] I packed my clothes

[02:29.07] And I caught a plane

[02:31.83] I had to see Joni

[02:33.85] I had to explain

[02:36.07] How my heart was filled

[02:38.33] With her memory

[02:41.33] And ask my Joni if she'd marry me

[02:49.32] I ran all the way

[02:51.57] To the house next door

[02:54.57] But things weren't like they were before

[02:58.58] My tear drops fell like rain that day

[03:03.82] When I heard what Joni had to say

[03:12.32] Jimmy, Jimmy please don't cry

[03:17.58] You'll forget me by and by

[03:21.57] It's been five years since you've been gone

[03:26.57] Jimmy I married your best friend John
