[00:57.19] Fake news and misinformation becomes unstoppable to spread
[00:59.84] throughout the internet and social media.
[01:01.46] In particular, a survey found that 51% of Filipinos find it challenging
[01:05.44] to recognize fake news on social media, and that 70% of Filipino
[01:08.63] consider fake news to be a serious problem that mostly creates chaos to people.

[01:36.84] and there is a rising discussion about how to handle these problems
[01:40.57] without damaging the advantages of digital media.

[01:46.41] to find solutions to these issues in order to preserve an open,
[01:49.86] democratic system.
[01:51.98] Governments should encourage citizens to read the news
[01:54.90] and support a robust professional journalistic industry.
[01:59.68] Yes! And the news industry must also provide high-quality journalism
[02:03.74] to increase public trust and correct false information without legitimizing it.
[02:07.73] Technology firms ought to spend money on technologies
[02:10.64] that help people spot false news, cut off financial incentives for those
[02:14.62] who benefit from spreading misinformation, and enhance online accountability.
[02:19.93] Education on news literacy should be a top focus for educational institutions.

[03:13.94] What facts that we can get with the help of our dear friend
[03:24.30] On December 4, 2016, a man opened fire at a pizza shop in
[03:28.55] northwestern Washington D. C. The pizza shop is called Comet Ping Pong,
[03:33.60] there were false tweets widely spread on the net claiming that this
[03:37.84] pizza shop was the base for a pedophile sex ring involving Democratic
[03:41.29] presidential candidate.
[03:43.68] Days before the election the issue and threats about the pizza shop
[03:47.14] being the base for a pedophile sex ring increased.
[03:50.86] A man suddenly appeared holding his riffle and opened a fire
[03:54.32] believing that the pizza shop was really is the base and make his own investigation.
[03:59.62] Fortunately, no one was hurt, and the suspect was arrested.
[04:03.61] After he was arrested, he spoke well and was a polite person and the reason
[04:08.39] behind what he did is because of the wrong tweets.
[04:11.59] He really thought that the issue was true and that he just intended
[04:13.98] to rescue the children inside the pizza shop.
[04:17.69] Look at how big the impact of fake news on people's lives and society is.
