03. For Forever

[00:04.28] For Forever

[00:05.01] Ben Platt

[00:10.76] End of May or early June

[00:12.76] This picture-perfect afternoon we shared

[00:19.50] Drive the winding country road

[00:00.00] Grab a scoop at À La Mode

[00:00.00] And then we're there

[00:00.00] An open field that's framed with trees

[00:00.00] We pick a spot and shoot the breeze

[00:00.00] Like buddies do

[00:00.00] Quoting songs by our favorite bands

[00:00.00] Telling jokes no one understands

[00:00.00] Except us two

[00:00.00] And we talk and take in the view

[00:00.00] All we see is sky for forever

[00:00.00] We let the world pass by for forever

[00:00.00] Feels like we could go on for forever this way

[00:00.00] Two friends on a perfect day

[00:00.00] We walk a while and talk about

[00:00.00] The things we'll do when we get out of school

[00:00.00] Bike the Appalachian trail or

[00:00.00] Write a book or learn to sail

[00:00.00] Wouldn't that be cool?

[00:00.00] There's nothing that we can't discuss

[00:00.00] Like girls we wish would notice us but never do

[00:00.00] He looks around and says to me

[00:00.00] "There's nowhere else I'd rather be"

[00:00.00] And I say, "me too"

[00:00.00] And we talk and take in the view

[00:00.00] We just talk and take in the view

[00:00.00] All we see is sky for forever

[00:00.00] We let the world pass by for forever

[00:00.00] Feels like we could go on for forever this way, this way

[00:00.00] All we see is light for forever

[00:00.00] 'Cause the sun shines bright for forever

[00:00.00] Like we'll be alright for forever this way

[00:00.00] Two friends on a perfect day

[00:00.00] And there he goes

[00:00.00] Racing toward the tallest tree

[00:00.00] From far across the yellow field I hear him calling, "follow me" there we go

[00:00.00] Wondering how the world might look from up so high

[00:00.00] One foot after the other

[00:00.00] One branch then to another

[00:00.00] I climb higher and higher

[00:00.00] I climb 'til the entire

[00:00.00] Sun shines on my face

[00:00.00] And I suddenly feel the branch give way

[00:00.00] I'm on the ground

[00:00.00] My arm goes numb

[00:00.00] I look around

[00:00.00] And I see him come to get me

[00:00.00] He's come to get me

[00:00.00] And everything's okay

[00:00.00] All we see is sky for forever

[00:00.00] We let the world pass by for forever

[00:00.00] Buddy, you and I for forever this way, this way

[00:00.00] All we see is light

[00:00.00] 'Cause the sun burns bright

[00:00.00] We could be alright for forever this way

[00:00.00] Two friends

[00:00.00] True friends

[00:00.00] On a perfect day

[00:00.00] Songwriters: Benj Pasek / Justin Paul
