The Chicken
[00:46.88] The chicken wakes up like she does every morning
[00:52.72] To the sounds of her husband’s screams
[00:57.26] Sat in the dark on the eggs she is warming
[01:02.30] She closes her eyes and dreams of
[01:06.84] Walking to Memphis, becoming a dentist
[01:11.89] Anything but this
[01:17.46] I mean, she likes her life as a mother and wife
[01:22.25] But is that all she is?
[01:28.90] She stares out the window
[01:35.28] The very next morning, the chicken decides to
[01:40.86] Make her escape, get a taste of freedom
[01:45.92] She runs out the coop that her life’s been confined to
[01:50.71] Suddenly sees the thing she’s only dreamed of
[01:55.49] Just up ahead, gophers run through a meadow
[02:01.06] Deer graze, birds sing
[02:06.66] Her future is waiting, right there for the taking
[02:12.23] There’s just one thing
[02:18.07] The chicken must first cross the road
[02:28.17] The road
[02:32.69] A sea of trees and green and moss
[02:36.17] Waiting just across the road, the road
[02:45.21] A life of brighter days, a width of road away
[02:52.66] The road is gigantic, the chicken is little
[02:57.99] She moves ahead left-right-left, right-left-right
[03:05.42] All of a sudden, she stops in the middle
[03:09.15] Frozen in place by a pair of headlights
[03:14.44] It’s anyone’s guess what then happened next
[03:18.96] But most think she died
[03:26.67] But I think we ought to believe that she got to
[03:31.99] The other side
[03:38.36] So that’s why she did it
[03:47.39] Goodbye
