[00:05.39] OK, um, shall we imagine we work for a software company with a hundred employees?

[00:10.15] Fine. So what should the course include? I suggest that on the first day, we should explain what the company does and how it's organised.

[00:19.89] Yes, that's a good idea. Um, we could also spend some time introducing people in the company, so that they meet them and learn who they are and what they do.

[00:29.39] Yes, and how about getting them to spend two days learning how our computer systems work?

[00:35.64] Good idea. That way, when they go to their jobs, they won't always have to ask other people. And I think another useful thing is to explain what to do when they have a problem

[00:00.00] -for example when they want time off, or they're off sick or something.

[00:49.64] Exactly, so that they know what the procedures are and how to deal with them.

[01:02.89] Good idea. Do you think the course should be internal or given by an external organisation?

[01:04.39] Well, why don't we ask an external organisation? That'll mean that staff don't have to give up time to work on the training course.

[01:08.64] I'm not sure. I think that it should be given by people within the company who know how everything works.

[01:14.39] Outside people won't know.

[01:17.14] Mm, maybe, but the problem is that internal staff will need a lot of time to prepare the course and give it, and that'll distract them from their normal work.

[01:27.91] Yes, but it's still probably cheaper than getting someone from outside to give the course.

[01:33.64] Yes, possibly. Um, I'm not sure I agree though. Do you think the trainees should do the course in working hours or in their free time?

[01:40.90] I think it depends how many hours they do each day. If the course is going to be all day, it should be in workingtime. If it's just a couple of hours, they can do it in their free time after work.

[01:54.39] I don't agree. I think they'll be very tired after work.

[01:57.14] You may be right. OK, what about holding the course for two hours every day, from nine to 11 in the morning?

[02:03.91] Ah, I think that's a good idea - and we can then get different members of the staff to do sessions with the new recruits here in one of the meeting rooms.

[02:14.14] Fine, that's agreed then.

[02:16.64] Yes.
