Don't Cry Joni

[00:10.09] Joni was the girl who lived next door

[00:14.61] I've known her I guess ten years or more

[00:19.14] Joni wrote me a note one day

[00:24.20] And this is what she had to say.

[00:32.18] ''Jimmy, please say you'll wait for me

[00:38.06] I'll grow up someday you'll see

[00:42.31] Saving all my kisses just for you

[00:47.35] Signed with love forever true.''

[00:55.32] Slowly I read her note once more

[01:00.12] Then I went over to the house next door

[01:04.65] Her tear drops fell like rain that day

[01:09.44] When I told Joni what I had to say.

[01:17.96] ''Joni, Joni please don't cry

[01:23.26] You'll forget me by and by

[01:27.51] You're just fifteen, I'm twenty two

[01:32.29] And Joni, I just cant wait for you.''

[01:40.52] Soon I left our little home town

[01:45.83] Got me a job and tried to settle down

[01:49.82] But these words kept haunting my memory

[01:55.42] The words that Joni said to me.

[02:03.41] ''Jimmy please say you'll wait for me

[02:08.71] I'll grow up some day you'll see

[02:12.98] Saving all my kisses just for you

[02:18.55] Signed with love forever true.''

[02:26.27] I packed my clothes and I caught a plane

[02:31.32] I had to see Joni, I had to explain

[02:35.31] How my heart was filled with her memory

[02:40.90] And ask my Joni if she'd marry me.

[02:48.88] I ran all the way to the house next door

[02:53.40] But things weren't like they were before

[02:58.20] My tear drops fell like rain that day

[03:02.97] When I heard what Joni had to say.

[03:11.74] ''Jimmy, Jimmy please don't cry

[03:17.06] You'll forget me by and by

[03:20.51] It's been five years since you've been gone

[03:25.85] Jimmy, I married your best friend John...''
