Collin Raye - Love, Me

[00:11.89] I read a note my grandma wrote

[00:16.14] Back in 1923

[00:20.67] Grandpa kept it in his coat

[00:25.46] And he showed it once to me

[00:29.45] He said

[00:30.80] "Boy, you might not understand

[00:34.26] But a long long time ago

[00:38.79] Grandma's daddy didn't like me none

[00:43.03] But I loved your grandma so

[00:48.36] We had this crazy plan to meet

[00:52.34] And run away together

[00:57.12] Get married in the first town

[01:00.58] We came to and live forever

[01:06.16] But nailed to the tree

[01:09.35] Where we were supposed to meet instead

[01:15.73] I found this letter

[01:18.93] And this is what it said

[01:24.25] "If you get there before I do

[01:29.03] Don't give up on me

[01:33.61] I'll meet you when my chores are through

[01:37.86] I don't know how long I'll be

[01:42.12] But I'm not gonna let you down

[01:47.44] Darlin', wait and see

[01:50.91] And between now and then

[01:53.30] Until I see you again

[01:55.42] I'll be loving you

[01:58.88] Love, me"

[02:07.93] I read those words just hours

[02:12.73] Before my grandma passed away

[02:18.33] In the doorway of a church

[02:21.79] Where me and grandpa stopped to pray

[02:27.37] I know I've never seen him cry

[02:31.62] In all my fifteen years

[02:35.88] But as he said these words to her

[02:40.92] His eyes filled up with tears

[02:45.70] "If you get there before I do

[02:50.50] Don't give up on me

[02:55.28] I'll meet you when my chores are through

[03:00.07] I don't know how long I'll be

[03:04.07] But I'm not gonna let you down

[03:09.40] Darlin', wait and see

[03:12.87] And between now and then

[03:15.25] Until I see you again

[03:17.64] I'll be loving you

[03:21.89] Love, me

[03:26.67] Between now and then

[03:29.06] Until I see you again

[03:31.19] I'll be loving you

[03:35.17] Love, me
