[00:05.87] Listen to a conversation between a student and an employee at the university bookstore.
[00:09.06] (man) Can I help you with something?
[00:17.55] (woman) Yeah, I'm looking for this one book, uh, the main text for Anthropology 305, African Storytelling?
[00:22.09] You have it listed on your website but I've checked all over and I don't see it here.
[00:25.01] (man) OK, let me just locate that for you.
[00:32.98] African Storytelling, oh, you know what, the professor for that course actually changed the reading list this semester.
[00:35.63] And, Professor Stone, right?
[00:36.96] (woman) Right.
[00:42.54] (man) Yeah, he put a new edition of that book on the list this time and it's been hard to get a hold of.
[00:48.12] We were only able to get ten copies to start with, so, unfortunately, we've sold out a while ago.
[00:52.10] (woman) Oh, right, I know I'm kind of late.
[00:54.76] Actually, I slipped into the class at the last minute.
[00:57.68] They just told me today that a spot had opened up.
[00:59.55] (man) That's lucky for you.
[01:04.59] But, that course is always popular and it seems especially popular this year.
[01:09.90] Students have been coming in all week looking for the new edition and I've told them all the same thing.
[01:13.08] (woman) Um, but, the website said,
[01:17.87] (man) If you saw it listed on our website that was probably the old edition.
[01:19.47] We have plenty of those in stock.
[01:22.65] But we're stilling waiting on another order of new edition you need.
[01:27.96] So, I'll take your name down and you should check back, uh, next Friday.
[01:29.02] (woman) Next Friday?
[01:31.95] But isn't there any way I could get it earlier?
[01:38.59] (man) I know it's inconvenient but there probably won't be too much reading in the first couple of weeks of class, so,
[01:39.93] \(woman) But that's just it.
[01:43.37] Well, you see, I'm taking seven courses this semester.
[01:44.69] (man) Seven?
[01:46.55] You're joking.
[01:48.42] (woman) It's the only way I can graduate this year.
[01:56.13] But so I was planning to read ahead in this class, you know, get all the reading done for it now while I don't have much to do yet.
[01:58.77] Then later in the semester I'll have more time for my other classes.
[02:01.43] So, if I have to wait for the book?
[02:02.49] (man) I see.
[02:06.21] Hmm, do you know anyone else who's taking the course?
[02:08.61] (woman) Sure, actually, my roommate is.
[02:10.47] (man) Why don't you borrow her copy?
[02:14.97] (woman) Uh, I don't think sharing her copy would work if I'm gonna do all the reading.
[02:17.64] I'd need to carry it with me around campus and stuff.
[02:20.82] (man) Then what about the library copy?
[02:25.87] Don't professors put library copies of textbooks on reserve, reserved for students in the course?
[02:27.46] You could claim one of those.
[02:29.07] (woman) Oh, you're right!
[02:38.37] Oh, but no, I don't think they actually let us take reserved books out of the library, like, you have to sit there and read them.
[02:42.90] So as much as I'd love to just live in the library these next couple of weeks!
[02:48.48] (man) Right, well, you could always order it online, but you'd have to pay extra for quick delivery.
[02:53.26] (woman) Yeah, I was hoping to avoid that so, you still have the older edition, right?
[02:56.44] Maybe I'll ask the professor if it's similar enough.
