If you get there before I do

[00:09.94] i read a note my grandma wrote

[00:13.39] back in 1923

[00:18.19] grandpa kept it in his coat

[00:22.70] and he showed it once to me

[00:27.22] he said boy you might not understand

[00:31.47] but a long long time ago

[00:36.25] grandmas daddy didn't like me none

[00:40.77] but i loved your grandma so

[00:45.55] we had this crazy plan to meet and run away together

[00:55.11] get married in the first town we came to and live forever

[01:04.14] but nailed to the tree where we were suppose to meet instead

[01:13.17] i found this letter and this is what it said:

[01:21.14] if you get there before i do

[01:26.72] don't give up on me

[01:30.44] i'll meet you when my chores are through

[01:35.49] i don't know how long i'll be

[01:39.21] but i'm not gonna let you down

[01:44.51] darling wait and see

[01:48.23] and between now and then

[01:50.36] until i see you again

[01:52.48] i'll be lovin' you

[01:56.20] love, me

[02:07.12] i read those words just hours before my grandma passed away

[02:15.34] in the doorway of the church where me and gandpa stopped to pray

[02:25.26] i know i've never seen him cry

[02:29.23] in all my fifteen years

[02:33.75] but as he said these words to her

[02:38.00] his eyes filled up with tears

[02:43.31] if you get there before i do

[02:47.82] don't give up on me

[02:53.14] i'll meet you when my chores are through

[02:57.39] i don't know how long i'll be

[03:01.90] but i'm not gonna let you down

[03:09.34] darling wait and see

[03:10.41] and between now and then

[03:12.79] until i see you again

[03:15.45] i'll be lovin' you

[03:18.64] love, me

[03:24.75] and between now and then

[03:26.34] until i see you again

[03:27.94] i'll be lovin' you

[03:32.45] love, me
