21 Дорожка 21
[00:09.64] Charles Langley.
[00:11.29] A: Hi, Charles. It's Alicia here, Alicia Flores.
[00:14.89] C: Oh, hello, Alicia. How are you doing?
[00:16.64] A: Fine, thanks, Charles, how are you?
[00:18.39] C: Very well. And what can I do for you?
[00:20.90] A: Well, it's about your email. I have a few questions
[00:24.14] I thought I'd better just clear up quickly
[00:26.64] before I get down
[00:27.89] to investigating.
[00:29.39] C: OK, fire away. What do you want to know?
[00:31.15] A: Well, it would be useful to know
[00:33.64] what sort of investment
[00:35.39] you're thinking of making in Europe.
[00:37.39] C: Well, this is all a bit hush-hush at this stage,
[00:39.90] but we're thinking in terms of two million euros
[00:42.90] in the first year
[00:43.89] - that's about 21 million rand at current exchange rates -
[00:47.39] for laboratories, equipment and office space.
[00:50.65] A: Wow! A major move, then.
[00:52.90] C: Sure, but for biotechnology, we've got to be
[00:56.39] where the action is, and with a central European location,
[00:59.15] we should be able to attract
[01:01.89] some of the best brains.
[01:02.64] A: So there'll be quite a lot of people employed there,
[01:05.65] I take it.
[01:06.65] C: We thought that we'd start with ten of our own staff
[01:09.14] drawn from different divisions around the world,
[01:11.90] and then, if things go well,
[01:13.89] we'll build up to about 60 people,
[01:15.90] so the place you find must have room for expansion.
[01:18.64] A: OK, I'll look for somewhere with plenty
[01:21.65] of office space.
[01:22.90] Will all the staff be recruited
[01:25.40] from our other divisions?
[01:26.89] C: A few, because we want a bit of cross-fertilisation
[01:29.39] of ideas - that's one of our objectives
[01:32.39] - but mainly recruited in the
[01:34.90] local area.
[01:35.40] A: OK, that sounds interesting.
[01:37.39] C: And we're looking for a manager from inside
[01:40.39] the company to head up the new venture,
[01:41.64] so can you suggest
[01:43.15] some people, so we have,
[01:44.15] say, two or three options
[01:45.90] to choose from?
[01:46.90] It'll be a great opportunity for someone
[01:47.90] ambitious
[01:49.40] - to run a growing operation,
[01:50.65] I mean.
[01:51.65] A: You're certainly right there.
[01:53.40] C: And one last thing, Alicia
[01:55.39] What's that, Charles?
[01:56.39] C: I hear that in some regions in Europe,
[01:58.39] they offer government grants for companies
[02:00.64] thinking of moving there.
[02:01.90] Can you check the possibilities and
[02:03.89] see what's going?
[02:05.14] It could save us some money if
[02:06.89] there aren't too
[02:07.89] many strings attached.
[02:08.65] A: Sure, I'll get onto all this right away
[02:09.64] and let you have a
[02:12.64] proposal in a few days' time.
[02:13.89] C: Great stuff, Alicia.
[02:15.39] I'll look forward to that. Bye.
[02:16.40] A: Bye.
