Conway Twitty & Joni Lee - Don't Cry Joni

[00:11.08] Jimmy, please say you'll wait for me

[00:16.66] I'll grow up someday, you'll see

[00:21.43] Savin' all my kisses just for you

[00:27.00] Signed with love, forever true

[00:35.78] Joni was the girl who lived next door

[00:40.57] I've known her, i guess, ten years or more

[00:45.87] Joni wrote me a note one day

[00:51.18] And this is what she had to say

[01:00.05] "Jimmy, please say you'll wait for me

[01:05.66] I'll grow up someday, you'll see

[01:10.46] Savin' all my kisses just for you

[01:15.81] Signed with love, forever true"

[01:24.56] Slowly, I read her note once more

[01:29.36] And I went over to the house next door

[01:34.72] Her teardrops fell like rain that day

[01:39.57] When I told Joni what I had to say

[01:49.15] "Joni, Joni, please don't cry

[01:54.72] You'll forget me by and by

[01:59.24] You're just 15, I am 22

[02:04.29] And Joni, I just can't wait for you"

[02:13.58] Soon, I left our little hometown

[02:18.91] Got me a job and tried to settle down

[02:23.22] But these words kept haunting my memory

[02:28.82] The words that Joni said to me

[02:38.05] "Jimmy, please say you'll wait for me

[02:43.37] I'll grow up someday, you'll see

[02:48.15] Savin' all my kisses just for you

[02:53.46] Signed with love, forever true"

[03:01.98] I packed my clothes, and I caught a plane

[03:07.39] I had to see Joni, I had to explain

[03:11.83] How my heart was filled with her memory

[03:18.03] And asked my Joni if she'd marry me

[03:26.50] I ran all the way to the house next door

[03:31.28] But things weren't like they were before

[03:36.08] My teardrops fell like rain that day

[03:41.67] When I heard what Joni had to say

[03:50.99] "Jimmy, Jimmy, please don't cry

[03:56.55] You'll forget me by and by

[04:01.09] It's been five years since you've been gone

[04:06.41] Jimmy, I married your best friend John"
