Don't Cry Joni

[00:10.72] Joni was the girl who lived next door

[00:15.24] I've known her I guess 10 years or more

[00:20.29] Joni wrote me a note one day

[00:25.07] And this is what she had to say

[00:33.31] Jimmy please say you'll wait for me

[00:38.62] I'll grow up someday you'll see

[00:42.87] Saving all my kisses just for you

[00:48.45] Signed with love

[00:50.05] forever true

[00:56.15] Slowly I read her note once more

[01:00.67] Then I went over to the house next door

[01:05.18] Her tear drops fell like rain that day

[01:10.49] When I told Joni what I had to say

[01:18.73] Joni, Joni please don't cry

[01:24.04] You'll forget me by and by

[01:28.03] You're just fifteen

[01:30.15] I'm twenty two

[01:32.81] And Joni I just cant wait for you

[01:41.31] Soon I left our little home town

[01:46.62] Got me a job and tried to settle down

[01:50.34] But these words kept haunting my memory

[01:55.92] The words that Joni said to me

[02:04.15] Jimmy please say you'll wait for me

[02:09.46] I'll grow up some day you'll see

[02:13.71] Saving all my kisses just for you

[02:19.02] Signed with love

[02:20.62] forever true

[02:26.73] I packed my clothes

[02:28.85] And I caught a plane

[02:31.77] I had to see Joni

[02:33.37] I had to explain

[02:35.75] How my heart was filled

[02:38.15] With her memory

[02:41.34] And ask my Joni if she'd marry me

[02:49.83] I ran all the way

[02:51.43] To the house next door

[02:54.08] But things weren't like they were before

[02:58.87] My tear drops fell like rain that day

[03:03.65] When I heard what Joni had to say

[03:12.15] Jimmy, Jimmy please don't cry

[03:17.73] You'll forget me by and by

[03:21.71] It's been five years since you've been gone

[03:26.76] Jimmy I married your best friend John
