The Best Day
[00:16.72] I'm five years old
[00:18.47] It's getting cold
[00:20.71] I've got my big coat on
[00:24.47] I hear your laugh
[00:26.22] And look up smiling at you
[00:29.47] I run and run
[00:31.97] Past the pumpkin patch
[00:33.97] And the tractor rides
[00:36.22] Look now -- the sky is gold
[00:39.71] I hug your legs
[00:41.47] And fall asleep
[00:44.97] On the way home
[00:48.01] I don't know why all the trees change in the fall
[00:55.26] I know you're not scared of anything at all
[01:02.51] Don't know if Snow White's house is near or far away
[01:08.01] But I know I had the best day
[01:11.26] With you today
[01:21.51] I'm thirteen now
[01:23.26] And don't know how
[01:25.26] My friends could be so mean
[01:29.01] I come home crying
[01:31.26] And you hold me tight
[01:34.01] And grab the keys
[01:36.51] And we drive and drive
[01:38.51] Until we've found a town
[01:41.51] Far enough away
[01:44.26] And we talk
[01:45.26] And window-shop
[01:47.01] 'Til I've forgotten all their names
[01:53.01] I don't know who I'm gonna talk to now at school
[01:59.76] I know I'm laughing on the car ride home with you
[02:07.01] Don't know how long it's gonna take to feel okay
[02:13.01] But I know I had the best day
[02:15.76] With you today
[02:22.26] I have an excellent father
[02:26.26] His strength is making me stronger
[02:30.01] God smiles on my little brother
[02:33.51] Inside and out he's better than I am
[02:37.26] I grew up in a pretty house
[02:41.51] And I had space to run
[02:44.51] And I had the best days with you
[02:52.76] There is a video I found from back when I was three
[03:00.51] You set up a paint set in the kitchen and you're talking to me
[03:08.01] It's the age of princesses and pirate ships and the seven dwarfs
[03:15.26] And Daddy's smart and you're the prettiest lady in the whole wide world
[03:23.76] And now I know why all the trees change in the fall
[03:31.01] I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
[03:38.01] And I love you for giving me your eyes
[03:42.26] For staying back and watching me shine
[03:45.76] And I didn't know if you knew
[03:49.01] So I'm taking this chance to say
[03:52.01] That I had the best day
[03:54.76] With you today
