Albert Hammond - Down By The River

[00:08.85] City life was gettin′ us down

[00:15.33] So we spent the weekend out of town

[00:17.59] Pitched the tent on the patch of ground

[00:20.70] Down by the river

[00:24.65] Lit a fire and drank some wine

[00:26.94] You put your jeans on the top of mine

[00:28.96] Said, come in the water's fine

[00:31.81] Down by the river

[00:34.35] Down by the river

[00:35.50] Down by the river

[00:37.22] Said, come in the water′s fine

[00:40.05] Down by the river

[00:44.35] Didn't feel too good all night

[00:46.93] So we took a walk in the morning light

[00:48.93] Came across the strangest sight

[00:52.05] Down by the river

[00:55.17] Silver fish lay on its side

[00:56.57] It was washed up by the early tide

[00:58.28] I wonder how it died

[01:02.21] Down by the river

[01:05.61] Down by the river

[01:07.62] Down by the river

[01:10.16] Silver fish lay on its side

[01:11.87] Down by the river

[01:16.13] Doctor put us both to bed

[01:18.11] He dosed us up and he shook his head

[01:19.82] Only foolish people go, he said

[01:23.19] Down by the river

[01:26.31] Why do willows weep, said he

[01:28.32] Because they're dying gradually

[01:30.32] From the waste, from the factories

[01:33.15] Down by the river

[01:37.35] Down by the river

[01:39.65] Down by the river

[01:41.36] Why do willows weep, said he

[01:43.37] Down by the river

[01:49.06] In time, the river banks will die

[01:50.49] The reeds will wilt and the ducks won′t fly

[01:52.50] There′ll be a tear in the otter's eye

[01:54.74] Down by the river

[01:57.04] The banks will soon be black and dead

[01:59.33] And where the otter raised his head

[02:01.61] Will be a clean white stone instead

[02:04.45] Down by the river

[02:08.75] Down by the river

[02:10.47] Down by the river

[02:12.76] Will be a clean white stone instead

[02:24.10] Down by the river
