The Wizard And I
[00:04.17] Oh, Miss Elphaba
[00:09.74] Many years I have waited
[00:12.13] For a gift like yours to appear
[00:15.85] Why, I predict the Wizard might make you his magic grand vizier
[00:24.35] My dear, my dear
[00:26.48] I'll write at once to the Wizard
[00:29.93] Tell him of you in advance
[00:33.65] With a talent like yours, dear
[00:36.30] There is a definish chance
[00:39.76] If you work as you should
[00:44.80] You'll be making good
[00:53.31] Welcome to Shiz
[01:06.05] Did that really just happen?
[01:08.98] Have I actually understood?
[01:12.70] This weird quirk I've tried to suppress or hide
[01:18.01] Is a talent that could help me meet the Wizard
[01:26.77] If I make good
[01:32.35] So I'll make good
[01:42.45] When I meet the Wizard
[01:45.63] Once I prove my worth
[01:48.82] And then I meet the Wizard
[01:51.22] What I've waited for since, since birth
[01:54.67] And with all his Wizard wisdom
[01:57.85] By my looks, he won't be blinded
[02:01.30] Do you think the Wizard is dumb?
[02:04.49] Or like Munchkins, so small-minded? No!
[02:08.48] He'll say to me, "I see who you truly are
[02:11.67] A girl on whom I can rely"
[02:14.58] And that's how we'll begin
[02:17.50] The Wizard and I
[02:25.47] Once I'm with the Wizard
[02:28.66] My whole life will change
[02:32.12] 'Cause once you're with the Wizard
[02:35.04] No one thinks you're strange
[02:37.69] No father is not proud of you
[02:41.15] No sister acts ashamed
[02:44.87] And all of Oz has to love you
[02:47.78] When by the Wizard you're acclaimed
[02:51.24] And this gift or this curse I have inside
[02:54.96] Maybe at last, I'll know why
[02:57.88] As we work hand in hand
[03:01.07] The Wizard and I
[03:05.05] And one day, he'll say to me
[03:06.65] "Elphaba, a girl who is so superior
[03:11.70] Shouldn't a girl who's so good inside
[03:15.15] Have a matching exterior?
[03:17.81] And since folks here to an absurd degree
[03:21.26] Seem fixated on your verdigris
[03:24.71] Would it be alright by you
[03:28.96] If I de-greenify you?"
[03:34.81] And though, of course, that's not important to me
[03:37.99] "Alright, why not?" I'll reply
[03:40.91] Oh, what a pair we'll be, the Wizard and I
[03:48.09] Yes, what a pair we'll be, the Wizard and-
[03:59.51] Unlimited
[04:03.22] My future is unlimited
[04:08.81] And I've just had a vision, almost like a prophecy
[04:13.33] I know it sounds truly crazy
[04:18.63] And true, the vision's hazy
[04:22.36] But I swear, someday there'll be
[04:26.34] A celebration throughout Oz
[04:29.26] That's all to do with me!
[04:39.36] And I'll stand there with the Wizard
[04:44.93] Feeling things I've never felt
[04:49.18] And though I'd never show it
[04:51.57] I'd be so happy I could melt
[04:55.55] And so it will be for the rest of my life
[04:58.47] And I'll want nothing else 'til I die
[05:02.46] Held in such high esteem
[05:06.44] When people see me, they will scream
[05:09.63] For half of Oz's favorite team
[05:17.06] The Wizard and I
