The Willow Maid

[00:41.40] A young man walked through the forest

[00:44.40] with his quiver and hunting bow

[00:48.16] he heard a young girl singing

[00:51.66] and followed the sound below

[00:55.90] there he found the maiden

[00:58.89] who lives in the willow

[01:03.17] he called to her as she listened

[01:06.40] from a ring of toadstools red

[01:10.39] come with me my maiden

[01:13.65] come from thy willow bed

[01:17.40] she looked at him serenely

[01:20.90] and only shook her head

[01:25.41] see me now

[01:28.15] a ray of light in the moondance

[01:32.41] see me now

[01:35.65] I cannot leave this place

[01:39.90] hear me now

[01:42.90] a strain of song in the forest

[01:46.90] don't ask me to follow where you lead

[02:03.15] a young man walked through the forest

[02:06.41] with a flower in coat of green

[02:10.14] his love had hair like fire

[02:13.65] her eyes an emerald sheen

[02:17.40] she wrapped herself in beauty

[02:20.90] so young and so serene

[02:24.41] he stood there under the willow

[02:28.16] and he gave her the yellow bloom

[02:32.15] girl, my heart you've captured

[02:35.65] oh, I would be your groom

[02:39.41] she said she'd wed him never

[02:42.66] not near, nor far, nor soon

[02:46.16] oh, see me now

[02:49.91] a ray of light in the moondance

[02:54.16] see me now

[02:57.16] I cannot leave this place

[03:01.41] hear me now

[03:04.65] a strain of song in the forest

[03:08.65] don't ask me to follow where you lead

[03:24.40] a young man walked through forest

[03:28.16] with an axe as sharp as knife

[03:32.16] I'll take the green-eyed fairy

[03:35.91] and she shall be my wife

[03:39.15] with her I'll raise my children

[03:42.90] with her I'll live my life

[03:46.90] the maiden wept when she heard it

[03:50.15] when he said he'll set her free

[03:54.16] he took his axe and used it

[03:57.41] to bring down her ancient tree

[04:01.41] now your willows fallen

[04:04.91] now you belong to me

[04:09.15] see me now

[04:12.16] a ray of light in the moondance

[04:15.91] see me now

[04:19.40] I cannot leave this place

[04:23.40] hear me now

[04:26.40] a ray of light in the moondance

[04:30.41] don't ask me to follow where you lead

[04:52.90] she followed him out the forest

[04:58.15] and collapsed upon the earth

[05:03.15] her feet had walked but a distance

[05:08.17] from the green land of her birth

[05:13.41] she faded into a flower

[05:18.66] that would bloom for one bright eve

[05:23.90] he could not take from the forest

[05:28.90] what was never meant to leave
