White Lightning Hit the Family Tree
[00:02.26] It was the thirty first gathering of the
[00:10.97] Thompson's, Joneses, and Smiths
[00:14.97] There were tables full of chicken
[00:16.97] Taters, collard greens, and grits
[00:21.22] Well it all took place at Hatie Lake State Park
[00:25.21] Volleyball, fishin', badmitton, yard darts
[00:28.51] Aunt Irene said she'd never seen a turnout like this
[00:33.97] Well it started with hand shakes
[00:36.72] And lordy, how the babies have grown
[00:41.22] As the sun got hotter the day got to draggin' along
[00:47.98] I saw Uncle Gene comin' back from his car
[00:51.23] With somethin' clear as water in a mason jar
[00:54.47] The lemonade got hearty and, Lordy, the party was on
[01:01.22] That ol' boom box got louder and louder
[01:04.97] Actin' civilzed didn't seem to matter
[01:07.47] Everybody got to showin' their hiney includin' me
[01:14.47] Lord I'd never known Granny to take her a sip
[01:17.72] But the words were a slurrin' comin' off of her lips
[01:20.97] And it dawned on me
[01:22.97] White lightnin' hit the family tree
[01:30.97] Well cousin Johnny was a gator
[01:32.97] Jimmy was a UT fan
[01:37.47] And that football talk
[01:39.25] Was quickly gettin' out of hand
[01:43.72] Granny told Uncle Dave that she hated his guts
[01:47.47] Got right up in his face said, your whole famn damily's nuts
[01:50.72] Chicken legs got to flyin'
[01:52.97] And the whoop started hittin' the fan
[01:57.22] Yeah, that ol' boom box got louder and louder
[02:00.72] Actin' civilzed didn't seem to matter
[02:03.72] Everybody got to showin' their hiney includin' me
[02:10.47] Lord I'd never known Granny to take her a sip
[02:13.97] But the words were a slurrin' comin' off of her lips
[02:17.22] And it dawned on me
[02:19.22] White lightnin' hit the family tree
[02:23.97] That ol' park ranger jumped out of his car
[02:27.48] Said, listen here folks, it's gone a little too far
[02:30.47] Tear it all down, pack it all up
[02:33.98] Call it quits while there's still a little love
[02:52.22] Yeah I've never known Granny to take her a sip
[02:55.22] But the words were a slurrin' comin' off of her lips
[02:58.73] And it dawned on me
[03:00.48] White lightnin' hit the family tree
[03:05.22] Yeah it dawned on me
[03:07.22] White lightnin' hit the family tree
