[00:00.13] Todd: Meg, I'm going to give you a test.

[00:03.13] Meg: Okay.

[00:03.63] Todd: It's a personality test.

[00:05.13] Meg: Uh-oh.

[00:06.63] Todd: And we want to know, are you a pack rat?

[00:09.88] Meg: Am I a pack rat?

[00:12.13] Todd: Right. Do you save things, do you keep things, or are you a minimalist? Do you have very few things in your house?

[00:21.88] Meg: Well, I think I try to be a minimalist, but I'm a little bit of a pack rat.

[00:30.38] Todd: Okay. We'll take the test, let's see. Okay, the first question is, how many books do you have in your house?

[00:41.13] Meg: Not counting Kindle?

[00:42.38] Todd: Not counting Kindle. Physicalbooks, how many books do you have?

[00:45.88] Meg: Physical books, I think I have around 15 books.

[00:49.13] Todd: Oh. Oh.

[00:52.13] Meg: Is that a lot?

[00:53.14] Todd: That's bad.

[00:53.63] Meg: That's so many?

[00:54.63] Todd: Yeah.

[00:55.13] Meg: Really?

[00:56.13] Todd: So negative-

[00:56.63] Meg: Uh-oh.

[00:57.38] Todd: Negative ... Boo. Negative one means pack rat [crosstalk 00:00:58] positive one means minimalist. Okay. Next question. How many shoes do you have?

[01:08.13] Meg: Can I not answer that question?

[01:08.63] Todd: No. You have to say.

[01:11.13] Meg: Okay. I think I have 25 pairs of shoes.

[01:16.13] Todd: Oh my gosh. I'm giving you negative two points.

[01:17.88] Meg: No, just one.

[01:19.63] Todd: All right. Next question is, how many blankets do you have?

[01:27.63] Meg: Blankets? I think I have 10 blankets.

[01:35.38] Todd: Oh my gosh. I knew you were a pack rat. I knew it, I knew it. Now you're negative five.

[01:41.88] Meg: But you need blankets for the cold winter.

[01:43.88] Todd: You only need one blanket.

[01:45.64] Meg: But if you have friends visiting you, you need more blankets.

[01:49.64] Todd: Okay.

[01:50.65] Meg: I have a lot of friends.

[01:51.89] Todd: Wow. That's a good point. Okay, next question. How many umbrellas do you have?

[01:58.88] Meg: I think I have around five or six umbrellas.

[02:04.14] Todd: Wow. And you live alone, correct?

[02:06.14] Meg: Yes. I live alone.

[02:09.39] Todd: Okay. So a pack rat is somebody who does not get rid of things they don't need. So, do you need five umbrellas?

[02:16.39] Meg: I do need those umbrellas.

[02:17.89] Todd: Why do you need ...

[02:18.89] Meg: I'll tell you. I'll tell you why. One is a very small umbrella that's easy to carry. Another umbrella is very large for a really rainy day. A third umbrella is decorative and very pretty. The fourth umbrella is for the sun. And the fifth umbrella is clear, to use on a really windy day.

[02:40.63] Todd: That's interesting. Now, the fourth umbrella, for the sun, that's called a parasol, correct?

[02:44.63] Meg: I guess so, but that sounds a little old-fashioned.

[02:48.13] Todd: Okay. I won't consider that. I consider an umbrella for the rain only. So, we'll say four.

[02:54.63] Meg: Four.

[02:55.38] Todd: So let's just ...

[02:56.63] Meg: Do I get a point back?

[02:57.88] Todd: You do. But let's do a recap. You are single, you live alone.

[03:00.88] Meg: Yes.

[03:01.63] Todd: You have four umbrellas.

[03:02.88] Meg: Yes.

[03:03.64] Todd: You have 10 blankets.

[03:04.63] Meg: Yes.

[03:06.88] Todd: You have 25 pairs of shoes.

[03:08.13] Meg: Correct.

[03:08.63] Todd: And you have 15 books?

[03:09.63] Meg: 15 books.

[03:11.38] Todd: I'm sorry, Meg, but you qualify as a pack rat.

[03:14.13] Meg: Oh no.

[03:14.88] Todd: You are not a minimalist. We're taking away your minimalist membership.

[03:18.88] Meg: Oh. Well I guess I need to get rid of some things, huh? And what about you? Are you a pack rat or a minimalist?

[03:29.38] Todd: I'm pretty much a minimalist, I think, because I only have two bags of stuff.

[03:34.63] Meg: Only two bags?

[03:35.88] Todd: Yeah. So, you can take everything I have and put it in two big suitcases.

[03:42.13] Meg: So you don't have 15 books?

[03:43.89] Todd: No, I have maybe four books.

[03:45.88] Meg: Only four books.

[03:47.13] Todd: And they're very small paperback books.

[03:49.13] Meg: What about blankets?

[03:50.88] Todd: I have one blanket.

[03:52.38] Meg: Just one.

[03:53.13] Todd: Just one.

[03:54.13] Meg: So if visitors come to your house ...

[03:55.63] Todd: That is true.

[03:57.13] Meg: ... they're out of luck.

[03:58.38] Todd: When somebody comes to my house, I ask my neighbor to borrow a blanket. I do. Why?

[04:06.38] Meg: You borrow a blanket?

[04:07.88] Todd: ... is that funny? Yes. This is-

[04:08.88] Meg: Wow.

[04:09.88] Todd: I am such a minimalist, my friend told me, he said I am the only person that has ...

[04:20.63] Meg: One blanket.

[04:21.63] Todd: No. A spoon and a fork.

[04:23.88] Meg: A spoon and a fork?

[04:24.88] Todd: That's it. I have one.

[04:26.13] Meg: Okay. So basically, your house is not prepared for any visitors.

[04:29.13] Todd: That's true.

[04:30.13] Meg: Whereas my house is prepared for many visitors.

[04:32.13] Todd: That's true.

[04:33.38] Meg: Okay. Umbrellas?

[04:34.63] Todd: I have maybe two.

[04:37.38] Meg: Two. So why two?

[04:38.88] Todd: Because I can't remember if I have one or I will leave the house and I won't take it, and so then I need to buy one and then...

[04:49.38] Meg: And then you get rid of one?

[04:50.63] Todd: No, then I just never buy another one. I'm pretty good.

[04:52.63] Meg: Oh.

[04:53.88] Todd: Only two.

[04:54.38] Meg: Okay.

[04:55.13] Todd: But shoes?

[04:55.88] Meg: Shoes.

[04:56.88] Todd: I only have four pairs of shoes.

[05:00.38] Meg: What is the purpose of each pair of shoes?

[05:05.63] Todd: I have one pair of shoes for work. Nice dress shoes. I have two sneakers, one pair of sneakers for running, jogging, one pair of sneakers for fashion, and one pair of Futsal shoes for soccer. That's it. That's it.

[05:23.38] Meg: Wow. Well, I have to say, you really sound like a minimalist.

[05:28.63] Todd: Yeah, and you really sound like a pack rat.
