[00:01.14] Todd: Hello, Matt!
[00:02.39] Matt: Hello, Todd!
[00:02.89] Todd: Matt, I'm going to ask you some questions about pets.
[00:04.89] Matt: OK.
[00:05.64] Todd: First question, do you have a pet?
[00:07.39] Matt: Yes, my pet at my mom's house we have three pets; two dogs and a cat.
[00:13.64] My family actually raises dogs for helping blind people.
[00:17.64] Todd: Oh, really?
[00:18.64] Matt: Yeah.
[00:19.14] Todd: Wow, like how do they train the dogs?
[00:21.14] Matt: How do they train the dogs? Well, I mean it's a long process right?
[00:24.64] We get them when they're puppies and so we train them basic. You know, sit, come... really basic things.
[00:32.64] Then after they're about two year old they go to a different training school.
[00:37.64] Todd: Oh, wow. That's great!
[00:39.14] Matt: Yeah!
[00:39.89] Todd: Well, how many dogs do they usually train at a time?
[00:42.39] Matt: Oh, just one. We have our own dog and then we have a dog that we have that we are training.
[00:47.64] Todd: Oh, OK.
[00:48.14] Matt: Yeah, just one dog at a time.
[00:49.14] Todd: Do you ever see the dogs you trained like out on the street or anything?
[00:52.14] Matt: Sometimes we see them. They'll have like sort of conventions of reunions of the pets.
[00:59.39] Yeah, you get to see them every once in a while.
[01:01.89] Todd: Oh, wow! That's cool. Why do people keep pets?
[01:06.39] Matt: I guess the most important thing is companionship, right?
[01:10.39] So there is always somebody there for you that will like you no matter what.
[01:15.39] Todd: Yeah, that's true. OK. Besides cats, dogs and fish, what are some other pets people keep?
[01:20.89] Matt: Well, I guess if you are Siegfried and Roy you can keep a tiger or lion. I guess all types of things don't they?
[01:29.39] Todd: Yeah.
[01:30.14] Matt: I mean, my friend has a snake. I don't know if you mention that snake, ferrets and insects, spiders...
[01:38.39] Todd: OK.
[01:39.64] Matt: All kinds of things.
[01:40.39] Todd: All right. Yeah, like there is so many. What are some costs associated with keeping a pet?
[01:48.64] Matt: Food is probably the biggest cost.
[01:49.89] But also if you keep the dog, particularly a dog in your house when they are puppies and we have a lot of puppies they'll chew up everything they can so we're constantly replacing shoes and you know,
[02:03.64] cleaning up pee from the carpet and things like that. It can be a hassel.
[02:05.39] Todd: Yeah, OK. Thanks a lot Matt. By the way, where are you from?
[02:08.89] Matt: I'm from the U.S.A., from Minnesota.
