Wellerman

[00:01.80] There once was a ship that put to sea

[00:04.80] And the name of that ship was the Billy o' Tea

[00:07.05] The winds blew hard, her bow dipped down

[00:10.55] Blow, me bully boys, blow (huh)

[00:12.30] Soon may the Wellerman come

[00:14.80] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[00:17.06] One day, when the tonguing is done

[00:19.80] We'll take our leave and go

[00:22.55] She had not been two weeks from shore

[00:24.80] When down on her a right whale bore

[00:27.30] The captain called all hands and swore

[00:29.55] He'd take that whale in tow (huh)

[00:32.05] Soon may the Wellerman come

[00:34.80] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[00:37.57] One day, when the tonguing is done

[00:39.56] We'll take our leave and go

[00:42.04] Before the boat had hit the water

[00:44.56] The whale's tail came up and caught her

[00:47.30] All hands to the side, harpooned and fought her

[00:49.80] When she dived down below (huh)

[00:52.55] Soon may the Wellerman come

[00:55.07] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[00:57.57] One day, when the tonguing is done

[00:59.79] We'll take our leave and go

[01:02.31] No line was cut, no whale was freed

[01:04.80] An' the captain's mind was not on greed

[01:07.30] But he belonged to the Whaleman's creed

[01:09.81] She took that ship in tow (huh)

[01:12.32] Soon may the Wellerman come

[01:15.06] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[01:17.30] One day, when the tonguing is done

[01:19.56] We'll take our leave and go

[01:22.31] For forty days or even more (ooh)

[01:24.55] The line went slack then tight once more

[01:27.06] All boats were lost, there were only four

[01:29.55] And still that whale did go

[01:32.08] Soon may the Wellerman come

[01:35.54] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[01:37.55] One day, when the tonguing is done

[01:39.80] We'll take our leave and go

[01:42.32] As far as I've heard, the fight's still on

[01:44.80] The line's not cut, and the whale's not gone

[01:47.30] The Wellerman makes his regular call

[01:49.56] To encourage the captain, crew and all

[01:52.07] Soon may the Wellerman come

[01:55.07] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[01:57.32] One day, when the tonguing is done

[01:59.55] We'll take our leave and go

[02:02.31] Soon may the Wellerman come

[02:05.05] To bring us sugar and tea and rum

[02:07.30] One day, when the tonguing is done

[02:09.80] We'll take our leave and go
