[00:00.39] Todd: So Tim, you want to talk about road trips?

[00:02.39] Tim: Yeah, I wanna talk about road trips.

[00:04.39] Me and my friends when we were in high school we took a lot of road trips to lots of different places.

[00:09.64] Todd: OK.

[00:10.39] Tim: We would go down to California sometimes Mexico.

[00:14.14] One time when I was living in Wyoming, in one weekend we drove from Wyoming through Colorado, New Mexico, and Mexico and back in the same weekend.

[00:25.64] Todd: Wow! Well, actually for people who are not familiar with the United States how far is that?

[00:29.89] Tim: It's a long way. I don't know. It took.. I don't know, it took probably about 15 hours one way.

[00:36.89] Todd: Wow!

[00:37.64] Tim: So, thirty hours altogether. But it was fun.

[00:39.64] We drove down to Mexico had a good night a good meal, a little bit of drinks

[00:44.14] and drove back the next day.

[00:45.39] Todd: So you went to Tijuana?

[00:46.89] Tim: No, we went to Ciudad Juarez.

[00:49.64] Todd: OK. Nice.

[00:51.89] Tim: That was really fun and a lot of other trips we took when I lived in Oregon when we'd go down to California and we'd surf.

[00:58.64] Todd: Oh, really?

[00:59.89] Tim: Yeah!

[01:00.39] Todd: Oh, you're a surfer?

[01:01.39] Tim: A little bit, a little bit of surfer.

[01:03.39] Todd: OK. What kind of car do you drive? What do you use for this road trip?

[01:07.14] Tim: Well, typical American a four-wheel-drive vehicle. Big vehicle, lots of gas but a lot of fun.

[01:15.40] Todd: Oh man, you're from Oregon you're supposed to be a tree-hugger!

[01:17.39] Tim: I know. I know. But they're good.

[01:18.64] One rule we had on our road trips was any lake or big body of water we had to stop and swim in. It was a good thing to do.

[01:27.14] Todd: Well, you live in Japan now. Do you ever do road trips in Japan?

[01:29.39] Tim: I took a road trip from Niigata up around Hokkaido and back, so it was a long road trip actually.

[01:36.39] Todd: OK. Wow! What's the difference between a road trip in Japan and a road trip in America?

[01:40.89] Tim: Well, a road trip in Japan..it's a little bit more difficult to get around, it's a little bit more expensive.

[01:47.64] In America, road tripping is sort of.. something a lot of people do.

[01:52.40] Todd: Yeah.

[01:52.89] Tim: And in Japan, when we do that it is a little bit strange, a little bit different, not very normal.

[01:58.14] Todd: Yeah, that's true. OK. Great, thanks a lot Tim.
